oi oi, dowasure no kuse ni!

been becoming the master of toejam and earl recently. yesterday, i played probably the best game ever, ending as toejam the funk lord with four lives to spare and enough presents to teach enlightened countries about christmas. today, i did it with earl by a much narrower scrape. i ended up on the last level with three sets of icarus wings, two un-falls, three fudge sundaes, and i used everything -- i was basically opening presents to get that final level up, and i got it -- turned out that my last mystery present was a promotion -- how 'bout that, meng? i've got a great photograph of it...uh...anyone know how to post pictures (even from a url) on a free lj account?

so my 100 yen 'binge' turned out to be ten items even. once i got there, i saw so many things that i can borrow from the other teachers. still, it's always nice to buy a new notebook. this one will be a record of brilliant activity ideas i come up with for classes. if i ever fill it up, it will be worth a fortune. you see, for junior high school english classes in japan, you need to have an activity. like my father said, it's all about channeling their energy, and without the proper vehicle, your desire to impart the wisdom of our anglo forefathers will be snapped off like a stick of fucking pocky. is playing with flashlights fun? i hope so, because it's the basis for my second-year class tomorrow. oh yeah -- second year means 8th grade.

today i also bought a shonan bakusouzoku wall clock, a spongebob t-shirt for aya, two alcoholic beverages, and i wasted a thousand yen at my casino. i call it a casino, because it's basically gambling and involves a roulette. it's like a ufo catcher machine, only you use the arm to press a button, which spins the roulette. the roulette has two balls in it, and if they land on *both* 7 & 11, you may pick from the following prizes: a ps2, a gameboy micro (classic famicom edition), a psp, a rare gundam figure, a five-speaker home theatre set, or an entire series of anime on dvd. i was aiming most seriously for the gbm and fist of the north star, but i ended up only with a pokemon keychain, because that's the kind of prize you get if you only get a '7'. well fuck it. kind of reminds me of back in the day when at the after prom party i won a bunch of raffle tickets by betting on '11,' and then entered the raffle only to not win a discman. aya wants to have our honeymoon in vegas, but i don't want to get divorced that soon.
